Sunday Roast in Brixton

The roast potatoes are returning.

From 6th September 2026, Sunday roast is back at The Laundry, bringing proper cooking, generous trimmings and the kind of table that makes Monday feel temporarily irrelevant.

Named one of Brixton’s best Sunday roasts by Condé Nast Traveller, our Sunday roast has become a local institution on Coldharbour Lane, with the room filling each week with families, friends, regulars and people who take gravy very seriously.

Sunday roast is served from 10am to 4pm, with last bookings at 3.45pm and the bar open until 5pm.

Book early. Sunday tends to make plans without asking.

A proper Sunday roast

A good roast does not need to be reinvented.

It needs crisp roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, generous gravy and a centrepiece worth gathering around.

The Laundry’s Sunday menu offers both meat and vegan roast options, built around seasonal ingredients and the kind of cooking that takes its time before it reaches the table.

Every roast is served with bottomless roasted vegetables and gravy, so the table can keep passing, pouring and requesting another round until the job has been properly completed.

Nothing arrives as an afterthought. The vegetables matter. The gravy matters. The final roast potato is handled through polite negotiation.

Sunday lunch without the hurry

Sunday lunch should have room to breathe.

It is not a meal designed for checking the time, rushing the last course or announcing that everyone should probably get going.

Settle in, order wine and allow lunch to become the better part of the afternoon.

The Laundry’s neighbourhood bistro has tables throughout the restaurant, seats at the bar and a covered, heated terrace for anyone committed to a little fresh air after summer ends.

Wine for the table

A proper roast needs a good bottle within reach.

The Laundry is also a wine shop, with a list shaped by Chef-Sommelier Melanie Brown and a team ready to help the table choose something that works with lunch.

Ask for a recommendation or arrive with a bottle already in mind.

The important part is that nobody is asked to perform detailed wine administration on a Sunday.

Sunday roast for groups

Roast works especially well when the table is full.

Family lunches, birthdays, overdue catch-ups and groups of friends can be accommodated across the restaurant, terrace and private dining rooms.

For groups of 12 or more, dedicated group menus and private spaces are available. La Table de Carmen seats up to 20 guests, while the adjoining private rooms can accommodate between 20 and 34 guests, or 36 at a squeeze.

For larger tables, contact the team ahead of booking so we can make sure everyone has enough room for lunch and the inevitable extra round.

The Laundry is located at 374 Coldharbour Lane, close to Brixton Station, Brixton Village and Electric Avenue.

That means the group can find us easily, even when several people have interpreted the agreed meeting time differently.
