Where to Brunch in Brixton
Brunch is not a small decision. It sets the tone for the day. Sometimes for the weekend. Occasionally for the group chat.
If you are wondering where to brunch in Brixton, The Laundry is a very good place to start. We are an all-day neighbourhood restaurant, café and wine shop on Coldharbour Lane, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails and wine, with a covered and heated terrace for the days when sitting outside feels like the only correct answer.
Brunch is an institution here. Turkish Eggs, a Laundry Fry Up, toasted banana bread with salted honeycomb butter, proper coffee, cocktails and a room that knows how to let you take your time. No formal fuss. No rushing. No judgment on your timing.
Brunch in Brixton, done properly
A good brunch place needs range. Some people want eggs. Some want something sweet. Some want coffee. Some want a Bloody Maria and will be very relaxed about defending that choice.
The Laundry handles the table as it comes. Turkish Eggs arrive with poached eggs, whipped yoghurt, hot chilli butter and sourdough. The Laundry Fry Up does what a fry up should, with eggs, slow-roasted tomatoes, house smoky beans, streaky bacon, field mushrooms, hash brown and sourdough. The banana bread is toasted and served with salted honeycomb butter, which is exactly as sensible as it sounds.
And then there is The Dirty. Hash brown stack, two poached eggs, horseradish cream, Bloody Mary ketchup, goddess, pecorino and sourdough. A brunch dish with very little interest in being subtle. Good.
Near Brixton station, Brixton Village and the rest of your day
The Laundry sits on Coldharbour Lane, right in the heart of Brixton. Close enough for brunch near Brixton Tube or mainline station; easy enough for meeting friends, and very useful if the rest of the day involves Brixton Village, Electric Avenue, Brockwell Park, a gig, drinks, shopping or no plan at all.
That is the thing about brunch in Brixton. It rarely stays as just brunch. It becomes a wander, a terrace drink, another coffee, a cocktail, a late lunch, or someone saying, “Should we just stay here?”
We understand completely, and wholeheartedly encourage!
Brunch with coffee, cocktails and a little bit of edge
Not every brunch needs cocktails. But it is nice to know they are there.
Start with coffee if you are being sensible. Add a Bloody Maria if the day calls for tequila, because obviously. Order food that does the heavy lifting and let the table decide how serious the rest of the afternoon is going to be.
The Laundry is made for that slightly flexible version of brunch. It can be calm. It can be lively. It can be breakfast with better timing or lunch with better eggs. It can be a quick booking that somehow becomes the main event.
Terrace brunch in Brixton
Fresh air improves brunch. This is not official science, but it feels true.
Our covered and heated alfresco terrace makes outdoor brunch in Brixton a much easier decision. It gives you the terrace feeling without asking you to place too much emotional trust in the weather forecast. Coffee outside. Eggs outside. Cocktails outside. A table that lets the day stretch a little.
For sunny mornings, slow afternoons, group catch-ups and those “shall we sit outside?” moments, the terrace is very much part of the point.
When is brunch served?
Brunch is served seven days a week at The Laundry Brixton.
