Come for banana bread and coffee. Stay for another plate. Add a Bloody Maria when the table starts making suggestions.

Outdoor brunch in London usually requires a small amount of optimism and several weather apps.
The Laundry terrace makes the decision easier. It is covered and heated, giving you the feeling of eating outside without asking you to place your entire morning in the hands of the forecast.
It works for sunny starts, slow weekends, group catch-ups and those days when sitting inside simply feels like the wrong answer.
The Laundry sits on Coldharbour Lane, close to Brixton station, Brixton Village and Electric Avenue, making it a useful first stop before the market, a wander around Brixton or absolutely no further plans at all.
The brunch plates worth leaving the house for
A terrace is only as good as the food arriving on it.
Start with the toasted banana bread, served with salted honeycomb butter. Sweet, salty and simple enough to make ordering another portion feel completely rational.
For something more substantial, the Laundry Fry Up comes with two eggs your way, slow-roasted tomatoes, house smoky beans, streaky bacon, field mushrooms, a hash brown and sourdough.
There is also smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, or the spiced tofu scramble with slow-roasted tomatoes and sourdough for a plant-based start.
This is brunch with proper food behind it. Enough comfort for the late risers, enough substance for the hungry table and enough reason to stop pretending you were only coming for coffee.
Coffee first, cocktails when ready
Some al fresco brunches begin sensibly.
Coffee. Juice. Eggs. A conversation conducted at a reasonable volume.
Others begin with a Bellini, Bloody Maria or Flat White Martini and develop from there.
Both approaches are welcome.
The Bloody Maria swaps vodka for tequila, because sometimes brunch needs to make its intentions clear. The Flat White Martini does useful work for anyone who would like caffeine and a cocktail without choosing between them.
Start with coffee. Add a cocktail. Order something else for the table. There is no need to finalise the plan too early.
Summer Sundays on Coldharbour Lane
Sundays are currently taking over the terrace with The Laundry’s Summer Terrace Residency, running until 30 August 2026.
The usual Sunday roast has stepped aside for a breezier, walk-up-friendly brunch and lunch menu, designed for warmer days, cold drinks and long terrace tables. Sunday brunch and lunch run from 10am to 4pm, with the bar open until 5pm.
The Sunday Roast returns on 6 September, once summer has finished making its case.
Brunch seven days a week
Brunch should not be reserved for Sunday.
At The Laundry, it is served seven days a week:
Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 3pm
Saturday: 10am to 3pm
Sunday: 10am to 4pm
That gives you options.
A weekday breakfast before the day starts behaving badly. A Saturday table before Brixton Market. A slow Sunday brunch that quietly becomes cocktails.
Early birds, late risers and people who believe 2pm is still morning in spirit are all recognised.
Al fresco brunch for groups
The terrace works particularly well when brunch involves more than two people and several conflicting arrival times.
Birthdays, catch-ups, family tables, friends who have not seen each other in months and the group chat that finally managed to agree on a date.
Book a terrace table, order a few different plates and let everyone arrive in their own interpretation of “on time”.
