Seasonal Change: The Laundry Brixton's New Menu

Melanie’s New Menu Hits The Laundry RESTAURANT

Spring has officially sprung on Coldharbour Lane, and we’re celebrating with a little love note to your appetite: our NEW main menu is a proper 'labour of love'. It’s got Melanie’s New Zealand heritage running right through it (hello, whānau spirit), which basically means you’re not just popping in for a plate of something tasty: you’re part of the family. And while we’re sending all the love to Sami Harvey as she heads off to her next adventure, it also means Melanie is now officially at the helm of our beloved Brixton bistro, bringing a bit of 'Mel magic' and a progressive, forward-thinking culinary environment founded on flavour.

If you’re looking for one of those Coldharbour Lane restaurants where 'brunches thrive and sundowners are mandatory', you’ve found us. We’re a classic bistro (with a Brixton edge), the kitchen never sleeps, and yes: we’re still serving South London’s best Sunday Roast. So whether you’re deep in a brunch brixton obsession, planning a brunch in brixton catch-up, or you’re already staking your claim on a brixton sunday roast table… welcome home.

Main Menu: The New Bits (and the Comeback Kids)

Let’s start with a star that’s already getting whispered about like it’s gossip: Chicken Liver Parfait with Kiwi Feijoa Chutney (£12). Silky, rich, and unapologetically moreish, with that feijoa sweetness doing a little New Zealand wink across the table.

And because we love a return as much as we love a good sauce: the 'Dirty' breakfast stack is BACK. We’re talking hash browns, horseradish cream, and Bloody Mary ketchup. It’s loud, it’s glorious, and it’s basically the reason your group chat should meet for brixton brunch this weekend (you’re welcome).

Weekday treat? Don’t sleep on our £15 Monday-Wednesday Plat du Jours. Pair it with one of our L’apéro cocktails and suddenly it’s giving 'I’m just popping out for one' energy (famous last words).

Work with us, eat with us, and: most importantly: devour with us.

The Seasonal Board Philosophy

First things first: a tiny bit of house terminology. You’ll notice we call it the 'Seasonal Board', not the 'specials board'. Why? Because these dishes aren't just 'extras': they are the heart and soul of our kitchen’s current obsession. They represent the peak of what’s growing right now.

We’ve made sure you can’t miss it. There’s a blackboard outside to tempt you as you walk down Coldharbour Lane, one downstairs in the thick of the action, and another upstairs for a more bird’s-eye view of the restaurant. Our goal is for every single guest to have a clear view of what’s fresh. When you’re seated, one of our lovely team members will point you in the right direction and give you the lowdown on what’s cooking.

Coming in Hot: The Starters

Let’s talk about the food, shall we? We’re kicking things off with a couple of proper scene-stealers (and yes, you should absolutely order bread like it’s your job).

First up: Chicken Liver Parfait with Kiwi Feijoa Chutney. Silky, rich, and unapologetically moreish, with a little hit of feijoa sweetness that tips the whole thing into 'why haven’t I been eating this all my life?' territory. It’s classic bistro comfort with a cheeky nod to New Zealand (hi, heritage!).

Next up is a dish that has 'Laundry classic' written all over it: Bone Marrow with Wild Garlic Pesto. We’re serving two marrow troughs roasted to perfection. If you’ve never had marrow before, think of it as 'tasty fat': a silky, jelly-like treasure found inside beef bones that is incredibly flavoursome. And FULL of collagen. We’ve paired it with a pesto made exclusively from wild garlic. The best part? No nuts were harmed in the making of this pesto! Wild garlic is in season from now until late May, and we’re hoping to forage as much of it locally as possible. It’s vibrant, pungent, and just downright amazing.

If you’re after something a bit more delicate, the Smoked Mackerel is a must-try. We source the flakes from the legendary Wimbledon Smokehouse and serve them alongside house-pickled rhubarb and a crisp radicchio and baby watercress salad. Topped with a dollop of horseradish cream, it’s a masterclass in balance: smoky, tart, and peppery all at once.

The Main Events

Moving on to the heavy hitters. If you’re a fan of our best brunch in brixton, you know we don’t do things by halves. Our Cornish Crab Linguine  is proof of that. We take silky linguine and toss it with generous chunks of white Cornish crab meat, preserved lemon, butter, parsley, and a cheeky hit of red chilli. It’s bright, zesty, and feels like a sunny afternoon on the coast, even if you’re actually sitting in one of the most vibrant Coldharbour Lane restaurants.

But if you’re looking for the showstopper, look no further than the Trenchmore Farm Wagyu Rump. This is 300g of slow-grown, grass-fed beef from Sussex. Because it’s Wagyu, it’s highly marbled with fat, resulting in meat that is incredibly tender and rich. We serve it medium-rare with a pan-made sauce of reduced tamari (that’s gluten-free soy sauce for the uninitiated), green peppercorns, and cream. The sauce is powerful, salty, and totally addictive.

Beyond the Board: Brunch and Roasts

While we’re head-over-heels for the new Seasonal Board, don’t forget that we’re still your go-to spot for all-day dining. Whether you’re planning brunch in brixton, hunting down the best brunch in brixton, or you’ve woken up craving a proper sunday lunch brixton moment, you’re in extremely safe hands.

And yes, we’ve brought back a fan favourite: the 'Dirty' breakfast stack with Bloody Mary ketchup. It’s big weekend energy on a plate, and it plays very nicely with a late-morning cocktail (you’ve twisted our arm).

Our brunch brixton and brixton brunch regulars know the drill: from grilled banana bread to the perfect Bloody Mary, we’re here to make your weekends (and weekdays!) a little bit more delicious. And when Sunday rolls around, brixton sunday roast is the only place to be. We’re talking succulent meats, crispy potatoes, and all the trimmings. If you haven't tried our sunday lunch in brixton yet, what are you actually waiting for? Consider this your sign to book that sunday lunch in brixton and make a day of it.

Why Brixton? Why Now?

There’s also a reason why people flock to brunch in brixton. The energy here is unmatched, and being one of the staple Coldharbour Lane restaurants, we feel that vibe every single day. Whether you’re a local or just visiting for a sunday roast brixton adventure, The Laundry is your home away from home.

We’ve created a space that is welcoming, bustling, and always smells like something delicious is roasting in the kitchen. Our philosophy isn't just about the food; it’s about the community. We want you to feel like you’re part of the family every time you step through the door.

Beyond the Brixton Brunch: Join Our New NZ-Led Wine Events

Sharing tables and serious bottles with Kiwi Cru, The Wine Society, and like-minded 'winos'

There's something magical about that moment when the perfect sip of wine meets the perfect bite of food. You know the one, where flavours collide and suddenly everything just makes sense. That's the feeling we've been chasing here at The Laundry, and honestly? We think we've cracked it.

More Than Just Your Local Corner

If you've wandered down Coldharbour Lane and stumbled upon our little corner of Brixton, you already know we're not your average neighbourhood restaurant (hello, Brixton brunch crowd). But what you might not know is that behind our wine dinners and tasting events is a story of passion, fire (literally), and a chef-sommelier who's done things a bit differently.

Let us introduce you to the heart and soul of our wine experiences: Melanie Brown.

#MeetMel: The Chef-Sommelier Who Does It All

Here's the thing about Mel—she's not just our founder and CEO. She's a proper, bonafide chef-sommelier, which is basically the culinary equivalent of being fluent in two languages and using them both at the same time to create something beautiful.

Her journey? Oh, it’s a good one. Picture this: working with legendary NZ celebrity chef Peter Gordon at The Providores. Big flavours, fearless simplicity, beautiful produce, and food that actually makes sense with a glass of something delicious (no fuss, all feeling).

A Love Letter to New Zealand Wine

And here’s the part you’ll taste in everything we do: Mel’s wine world is unapologetically NZ-led. Think electric Marlborough Sauvignon, lush Central Otago Pinot, textured Hawke’s Bay reds, and all those small-producer gems that make you want to ‘just have one more glass’ (famous last words).

Because we’re very much a ‘the more the merrier’ kind of wine family, we’re proud to say Kiwi Cru and The Wine Society are two of our key wine collaboration partners. Getting to work with like-minded winos who share our passion for delicious bottles, great stories, and zero snobbery honestly means the world to us here at The Laundry.

She likes to call herself a 'glorified campfire chef-sommelier,' and honestly? We think that's the most accurate description we've ever heard. There's something beautifully primal about her approach: fire, wine, good company, and flavours that hit you right in the feels.

Forget Stuffy: What Makes Our Wine Dinners Different

Now, we know what you're thinking. 'Wine dinner' can sometimes conjure up images of stuffy affairs with too many forks and people who say things like 'notes of elderflower with a whisper of morning dew'.

That's absolutely NOT what we're about.

Our wine events are curated by Mel to be genuine, welcoming, and, dare we say it, actually fun. And if you know us for brunch in Brixton, or you’re one of the many lovely humans who swear we do the best roast in Brixton (yep, our Sunday Roast Brixton reputation is a thing), this is your nudge to come see a different side of The Laundry.

Expect a NZ-led line-up (with a few well-chosen mates from further afield), seriously good food, and the kind of night where you learn something without feeling like you’re back in school. By the third course? You’ll have new pals. It’s basically guaranteed.

Candlelight, Clinking Glasses, and Coldharbour Lane

Among Coldharbour Lane restaurants, we've carved out a reputation for wine experiences that move beyond just a meal. These are proper events. Everything is thoughtfully curated so the food and wine feel like they were made for each other. Nothing is an afterthought.

The atmosphere in our Brixton dining room during these evenings is something else entirely. Candles flickering, conversation flowing, glasses clinking. It's intimate without being pretentious, educational without being boring. You'll walk away with a fuller appreciation of wine, sure, but more importantly, you'll walk away having had a genuinely brilliant night out.

These events do sell out quickly, so if you want to snag a spot, we’d recommend signing up to our newsletter. Trust us, you don’t want to miss the next one.

The Philosophy: NZ-Led (Because That’s What We Love)

Let’s talk about what ends up in your glass, shall we? Mel’s wine philosophy is simple: lead with New Zealand, pour the good stuff, and make it make sense with what’s on your plate. We love the classics too, but if you’re coming to The Laundry for a wine night, expect NZ producers to take centre stage: bright, textural, elegant, and ridiculously drinkable.

At our wine dinners, you’ll taste through regions and styles side by side (hello, Pinot nerd-out). It’s not a lecture, it’s a vibe. You’ll leave with a new favourite bottle and a few ‘wait… why is this so good?’ moments.

A Table for Everyone

Whether you're a complete wine novice who's never swirled a glass in your life or a seasoned enthusiast who can identify a wine's region from a single sniff, there's a place for you at our table. We promise not to judge if you prefer the £15 bottle over the £50 one. In fact, Mel would probably respect you more for trusting your own palate.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming wine dinners. You can check our Group DIning if you're thinking of bringing a group, or simply pop by to meet the team and see what we're all about

Calling All Wineries: Join the Family

We’re always looking to grow our wine family! We’d love to invite wineries to collaborate and use The Laundry as a base for your own events and Wine Dinners. We supply the space and the food matches, and you supply the wines and guests.

Old World soul, New World spirit, and a whole lot of heart. That's what you'll find here.

Got a vineyard / wines or a winemaker you’d like to partner us with, Drop Mel a line.... 🍷
